Why we made it
The morning it goes wrong is always the same.
One of you gives the insulin at 8:20. The other, not knowing, gives it again at 9:48. Or nobody gives it, and you both lie awake wondering. Ask around the pet-health forums and you’ll hear that story more often than anyone would like.
The fixes people build for themselves tell you what’s missing: a spreadsheet the whole family can see, a button next to the pill bottle that logs the time when it’s pressed. Something you can tick in a second, at the moment you give the dose, that everyone else can see straight away. That’s all TailTandem is trying to be.

Tick it off, and everyone knows.
Today shows every pet’s doses in order, on every phone in the house. Tap the box when you’ve given one and it turns green for everybody, with your name and the time. Skip it if the vet said to, and that’s recorded too.
The record
It remembers who, and when.
Every dose keeps the name of the person who gave it and the time they did. Change your mind and the correction is added on top; nothing gets written over. When the vet asks how the last fortnight went, you can show them, or export it and send it along.
Sitters and helpers
Hand over the pets, not your account.
Going away? Make a link for the pets the sitter will have and the dates you’ll be gone. They open it, see just those pets, and tick off doses as they go, with their name on each one. Back home, you revoke the link. Family and housemates join properly, with their own reminders.

Pet medicine doesn’t come in “once a day”.

What is TailTandem, in one breath?
A pet medication tracker that lives on every phone in the household. You set up the pets and their doses once; from then on, whoever gives a dose ticks it off and everyone else sees it in seconds, with their name and the time. Sitters can help through a link, without an account. It runs on iPhone and Android and works without a connection.
How does it stop us giving the same dose twice?
It can’t reach out and stop a hand, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What it does is remove the reason it happens: not knowing. The moment one of you marks a dose Given, it shows as Given on every other phone, with your name next to it. If two phones both record the same dose while one of them was offline, both of you get a warning when they reconnect, and the record keeps both attempts so you can see what happened.
Does the pet sitter need to install anything or make an account?
They need the app, but not an account. You make a link for the pets you choose and the dates you’re away, and send it however you like. They open it, see only those pets, tick off doses, and their name goes on each one. When you’re home, revoke the link and it’s over.
We give the wormer every three months. Will it cope?
Yes. Schedules can run every N hours, days, weeks, months or years, on chosen weekdays, every other day, or in give-and-pause cycles, and you can add a one-off dose or an as-needed medication with a daily limit. You can also move or skip a single dose without disturbing the rest of the plan.
Are the reminders reliable?
As reliable as the phone lets them be, which is honest but not absolute. iOS and Android decide when a notification actually shows. TailTandem schedules reminders on each person’s own phone, can remind again while a dose is still open, and shows a clear warning inside the app if notifications are switched off. We built it so that the record is what you rely on, and the reminders are there to help.
What happens to our records if we stop paying, or switch phones?
The records stay. Ending Premium never deletes anything; the household simply goes back to one active pet, and the history is still there to read. Records live on your phone and, once you sign in, on our servers, so a new phone gets everything back the moment you sign in. You can export the whole lot whenever you want.
Do I need an account at all?
Not to start. One person with one pet can use TailTandem on one phone with no account, forever. An account is what lets a second phone see the same list, and it’s only an email address.
Will it nag us?
Only as much as you ask it to. Each person sets their own reminder times, sounds, quiet hours and follow-ups, or turns them off entirely and just uses the list. One person marking a dose Given clears it for everyone, so nobody gets reminded about a dose that’s already done.
Can it tell me how much to give, or what to do if we missed one?
No, and we’d be worried about any app that did. Doses, missed doses and interactions are for your vet. TailTandem records and reminds; wherever a medical question could come up, it points you to your vet instead of guessing.
